February Challenge: Plaid

I just love plaid nails! I did a tutorial a few months ago and I used the same technique for today's mani! I began with two coats of Zoya Perrie, a creamy purple that I just adore! I then put tape over it and polished the untaped areas with China Glaze Stone Cold, which dries matte. I wanted to have some contrasting finishes in this mani, so the shiny creme and matte seemed perfect! Finally, I used sparkly royal blue striping tape and viola! Enjoy! :)

  1. This is great! I love the color combo. I've never been able to get my tape to lay so well.

    1. Thank you! Tape takes a bit of practice for sure! And some ambidexterity! :)

  2. I agree with Sara;
    The ends of the tape taco on me then snag on things until I pick at them and well,you get my drift.
    What's your method/secrete for getting smoooooth tape?

    1. I'll try to explain what I do the best I can! :) I'll take pictures next time, too! I stick the end of the tape to the tip of my nail and then I hold it with my thumb that's on the same hand. I then use my other hand to pull the roll. I don't pull the tape too tight because it will pull the polish too but I pull it as tight as I safely can :) and then I press it down. I cut it off so I have ends on my skin still. I then use angled nail clippers to trim the ends off because they have a really straight cutting edge. Seal it in with two coats of top coat and you should be good for several days! :)

  3. This is the kind of mani that gets me that much closer to being brave and breaking out my massive accumulation of tape.
