February Challenge: Stained Glass Nails

I hope you're ready for a fun post! This has to be one of my favorite manis of all time! However, it is A LOT of work!

When I first decided to participate in the February Challenge, today's art was something I had never heard of and therefore I had to look it up. The basic premise of Stained Glass Nails is that you make your nails look like stained glass. Easy enough, right?! I saw a picture tutorial and that person used a dotting tool to place random splotches of color all over the nail. Then, they just used a black striper to polish between and around each splotch. I tend to have shaky hands and was worried about my ability to properly polish the black around the splotches, mainly around the outside edge of the splotches near my skin. Therefore, I did my nails a little differently.

First, I began by polishing my nails with two coats of OPI Black Onyx. Then I used Zoya Pippa, Sooki, Arizona, Yummy, and Essie Mojito Madness to make randomly shaped blotches. I did this systematically by dropping one color at a time onto paper and using my smallest dotting tool to draw each blotch. I used Sooki first and drew blotches near the edge of each nail. I continued with each color until I had used each color, the edges were filled with shapes, and the middle was the only empty part. I ended up averaging about three blotches of each color on each nail with the exception of my pinkie, which was about two of each. Then, I began the process again, filling in the remaining black area. Finally, I used black striping polish to sharpen the lines between each blotch, though I could have left this step out because I was really careful with my spacing as I polished on each blotch. Sounds like a lot of work, right? It is. Hahaha! But they are just so pretty! I will definitely do these again and next time, a picture tutorial is in order! I kind of forgot about it until halfway through so...yeah. Enjoy! :)
