February Challenge: Watercolor

Another day, another manicure that kicked my butt. Watercolor. Bah. I tried putting blobs of color on my nails and blending them by placing a plastic baggie over them. Fail. I put blobs of color on my nails and used a makeup brush with polish remover on it to thin the blobs out. Yet again, another fail. So I turned to the tried and true sponging method to save myself from chucking all of my polish out the window.

Ok, ok, I would never do that. :) Anyways, I used China Glaze Agro, Square Hue Wartime Romance, and Square Hue High School Crush to emulate a watercolor mani the best I could after two fails and a lot of frustration. I was going for a Monet-esque Water Lilies thing with the pinks representing the flowers and the green for the lily pads. Anyways, this is what I ended up with. Not 100% a watercolor, but close enough! Enjoy! :)

  1. I tried several times as well. I found that for me it worked best to get the polish on my brush then dip the brush polish and all in the acetone. Then put it on my nails and swirl. Putting it on then getting the acetone left odd dark rings I didn't like. xoxo PGC

    1. That sounds like a better plan! I had the dried polish rings, too! All in all, it was so annoying that this seemed so much easier! :)

  2. Even if you don't like watercolor: I like how this turned out!
