Keep Calm It's My Birthday!

Today is my birthday!! YAY!! I think teaching has helped me keep some enjoyment in my birthday, since the kids love getting treats and make such a big deal of it! I also usually get to spend some time with family, which is always wonderful!

So, you want to see what I'm wearing on my nails today, right?! ;) Last year I went for a literal interpretation: cupcakes. This year I went with something that is just pretty! I bought the OPI Mariah Carey 18k White Gold and Silver polish for myself for my birthday and when it came in the mail, I immediately fell in LOVE. Head over heels. My previous plan for my birthday nails went out the window and I changed the plan to incorporate the white gold! <3

So, I began with two coats of Zoya Seraphina on my accent nail and two coats of Zoya Mason on the rest of my nails. I put the White Gold flakes over Mason and OHMIGOSH, she's so pretty! Then I put three strips of striping tape over Seraphina and polished Mason over it before I pulled the tape off. And that's what I'm rocking today! Enjoy! :)

Also, keep your eyes peeled for a little something special later on today! Hehehe!

First of all, I have to start by saying: Happy Birthday, Laura!!

That being said, I have some adorable Mickey polishes to show you today, in honor of Laura's birthday! And, to help YOU celebrate as well, Laura is doing a buy three get one sale on her polishes today! That's on ALL of her polishes except for the charity fundraiser polishes and the custom polishes! All you need to do is use the code: HAPPYBIRTHDAY at ellagee.com! And while you're there, you HAVE to snag some of her amazing cuticle oil! (Look for a review on that soon!)

Ok, no more chatter from me! Onto the polishes! These all have Mickey glitter in them, so they will require a little fishing. Also, if you aren't crazy about the Mickeys, they are easy to avoid, so don't let them deter you from trying these polishes!

First up, my favorite, Party On, Mickey! This polish is PACKED with neon glitter in all shapes and sizes! Throw in some black and white Mickey heads and you have yourself a party! This is two thin coats over ellagee Dude!

Neutral Gradient

Oh, I just love gradients! They're rather easy and always look fantastic! I think that the color combination I did today would be entirely work appropriate!

The first thing I did was polish my nails a neutral color! Zoya's new Naturel Collection is full of amazing work appropriate nudes! I chose to go with Rue, a gorgeous blush colored polish.

I taped off my nails to prevent a ton of clean-up:

Next, I ripped up a makeup sponge and held a piece with tweezers. I dipped the sponge into a blob of Zoya Ziv and dabbed it at the top of my nails near my cuticle.

I always am heavy handed at the cuticle line and then I move downward as the polish isn't as heavy on the sponge. I keep working with it until I'm satisfied with the gradient! And you can always add more polish to the sponge. Enjoy! :)
