Indie Spotlight: Rachel Duo

And the Friends Duos by You Polish continue! Lauren has tackled a Rachel Duo next! These polishes are both gorgeous and match Rachel perfectly!

First up I have Hello Mrs. Ross, a polish made to match the dress Rachel is wearing when she and Ross get married in Las Vegas. They come out of the wedding saying, "Hello Mrs. Ross!" and "Hello, Mr. Rachel!" Hahaha! The dress she's wearing is an olive green, and so is Hello Mrs. Ross! Black and silver glitter, along with green shimmer, all hang out in this olive green jelly base. The depth of this polish is amazing! I did three thin coats to reach opacity. The glitter makes it thicker, but working with it was easy! :)

Next up I have Runaway Bride, named for the fact that Rachel ran out on her wedding to Barry. This multi-shimmer base has matte, iridescent, satin, and translucent white hexes, bars, and squares! This topper would look great over nearly any polish imaginable! I did one coat over a nude polish, and it turned out perfectly! I could see these nails on a bride for sure! This polish was so easy to work with even with all of the glitter in it! So pretty! Enjoy! :)

Twin Nails: Leopard Print Nails

Ready for another set of Twin Nails? This time I was paired up with Sarah of Partly Cloudy With a Chance of Lacquer! We were given the task of coming up with leopard nails, and I loved Sarah's idea of using texture and nontraditional colors! We went for a neon yellow base with orange and blue textured polish:

Leopard Twin Nails

Fun, right?! I love them! They're so bright and summery! Oh, summer. Where are you? ;) I began with two coats of Zoya Purity with a coat of ellagee's Dude (my favorite yellow neon polish of all time!) on top. Then, using a dotting tool, I randomly blobbed on Zoya Sunshine and Dhara:

After I was done with the blobs, I used an orange stick to draw little "c" shaped lines around the blobs in the opposite color. Here's what Sarah and I ended up with! Be sure to check out Sarah over at Partly Cloudy With a Chance of Lacquer! Enjoy! :)

Indie Spotlight: You Polish Micro Glitters

Lauren has an awesome new collection that she recently started that's chock full of micro glitters! Yep, I'm talking about solid coats of glitter here, people! No undies required! I ended up doing two coats of each to obtain opacity, but you could do one thick coat or three thin coats and completely get by! OR you could use undies, too! You can wear these polishes textured or with top coat! I love the way they look both ways, so I'm going to show you both ways (except one, which I forgot to shoot before top coat)! Since these polishes are mainly glitter, they are thicker than normal and removal will be a little more difficul. However, I found these to be pretty easy to work with! One thin coat to start was the key, I think. :)

Cotton Candy Rush is a clear base loaded with matte pink and blue micro glitter and silver holographic diamond dust! Again, I did two coats of Cotton Candy Rush and then took pictures without and with top coat!

Garden Variety is the one I forgot to get without top coat! Boo, I fail. I also did these over undies because I wanted one coat to show off the awesome flowers in this polish! This baby has green, pink, violet, and fuchsia micro glitter, larger pink glitter, and white flowers! How cute are those flowers?! I did one thin coat over ellagee's Joyful Chloe.

Let It Rain Bow is my favorite of these! I love it! Let It Rain Bow has holographic, matte, and metallic micro glitters in red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet! It's so pretty and looks great without and with top coat!

Finally, I have Orange Blossom! This gorgeous polish is matte green, yellow, and pink hexes with holographic silver dust. This polish screams spring and I adore it! Again, I did two coats without and with top coat! Enjoy! :)

Neon Dotticure

I've been dying to do some neon nails lately...with all of the gross weather we've had, I needed a pick me up! So, I got out some of my favorite neons and went to work!

I began with two coats of Zoya Storm on my pinkie and ring nails and two coats of Zoya Purity on my index and middle nails. Once Purity was dry, I polished two coats of ellagee Dude! over my middle nail and two coats of ellagee Like, Totally Coral on my index nail. I dotted large and small dots down the middle of each nail using Storm, Dude!, and Like, Totally Coral. I did dot Purity onto Storm first so that the neon polishes would show up brightly! Are you as ready for summer as I am?! Enjoy! :)

Indie Spotlight: ellagee Creams

Alright folks, I am super excited about these polishes! As a swatcher, I truly appreciate a good cream polish! The constant need for a variety of undies for glitter polish leaves me OBSESSED with cream polish. And good cream polish at that! So when Laura told me she was venturing into cream polish, I was thrilled! YAY!

Then they arrived at my doorstep. I put them on and fell in LOVE. Laura's creams are flawless! Smooth, gorgeous, creamy, and opaque in two coats! Formula and application is perfection, which isn't a surprise because Laura is a genius!

These cream polishes are releasing today, and trust me when I say that you NEED these! Fantastic creams are a necessity in any nail polish collection!

First up is Bashful Sadie, a mint cream. MINT! Ohmigosh, I am obsessed with mint polish! This polish is beyond beautiful! I wore this to work last week and received tons of compliments!

Joyful Chloe is a lighter purple cream that screams spring and flowers! Simply gorgeous!

I've been dying for that *perfect* peach cream polish. For some reason, I didn't have a single peach cream in my collection. Laura hit the nail on the head with Marvelous Delilah! Simply amazing! Enjoy! :)

Spring Acid Wash

I tried acid wash nails once more than a year ago. I failed miserably and put them on the "Try Another Day" list. Well, I finally tried them again! I learned from my original mistake of not letting the polish dry for a long, long time before attempting the acid wash portion of the mani! Previously, I just dragged the polish around in a pulling manner. Boo.

Ok, so I began with a base of two coats of Square Hue Glacier Skies. I polished Square Hue's Happy Creme next, one thicker coat this time. Finally, I ended with one thicker coat Square Hue's Groovy Love. I allowed the polish PLENTY of dry time. I think I waited at least an hour for fear of completely messing up my layering work. :)

Once I was confident in the level of dryness, I took a pointy q-tip, dipped it in polish remover, and gently rubbed it over various sections of my nail, created a layered look. When the q-tip was full of polish and starting to get fuzzy, I used a new one. I LOVE how these turned out. They look so, so awesome! And aside from waiting for the polish to dry, they were easy! Enjoy! :)

Zoya Dot and Monet

So, sometimes life gets so busy that posts go up without words...this is one of them! Hehehe! So if you caught it earlier, sorry about that!

Zoya Dot is a new polish from Zoya's Awaken Collection! She's a gorgeous light pink cream. I love a good cream polish! Dot was more sheer than I would have liked though. I like my cream polishes to be opaque in two coats, and Dot took three. But, she looked pretty at the end so all is well! Formula was smooth and easy to maneuver. Zoya Monet, on the other hand, is one finicky polish! Don't get me wrong, she is beautiful. But dang, I'm so used to awesome formula from Zoya that this one surprised me. Monet isn't so goopy that you can't work with it, but it's definitely thicker than I'm used to. I don't usually care if a glitter topper is thicker, but you get very little glitter on your nail with one coat of Monet. I ended up doing two coats over Dot to get the amount of glitter you see below. Also, the glitter ended up almost sinking into Dot after it was on the nail. Weird. All in all, I think Zoya was going for a more indie-looking polish. It just didn't really work out for them. When all was said and done, Monet looked really nice over Dot, even though she was a bear to get on! Enjoy! :)

Ready for something completely unique and awesome? Lauren has created the first polish I've ever seen with hole-y glitter! They're like little doughnuts floating around in a polish chock full of awesome! Neat, right?!

Holey Moley is a clear base with holographic dust and blue, turquoise, fuchsia, purple, lavender, and silver circle and holey glitter! CIRCLE GLITTER! I love this polish! I did one coat over Zoya Heather. Even with all of the glitter in it, it went on easily and smoothly!  So gorgeous! Holey Moley retails for $8! Enjoy! :)

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Paddy's Day to all you Irish folk out there! I'm not Irish, but I've always enjoyed wearing green and enjoying the spirit of the holiday! Ready to see the nails I wore today?

I wanted these to be green, but also rainbow-y. I began with two coats of Zoya Chantal so I would have a nude base to work with. Then, using a fan brush, I dragged Zoya Ivanka and Ziv onto my index and middle nails. For my pinkie and ring nails, I dragged Zoya Arizona, Darcy, Josie, Yummy, Sooki, and Perrie. I love how these turned out, especially the rainbow nails! If you've never tried using a fan brush, it's really simple and looks fantastic! Enjoy! :)
