Stone Nail Art

I tried some more stone nail art today! These turned out better than last time, though I'm still learning!

I began with one thin coat of KBShimmer's Shore Thing on my ring nail, and one thin coat of KBShimmer's Stonewashed on the rest of my nails. Then, working one nail at a time, I polished a thicker coat of the same color. While that was still wet, I used a large dotting tool to blob on the dots of color. Since they're both wet, they blobs will spread out, making it look like a stone walkway. This worked a lot better this time because I made sure the base color was nice and thick. Now I just have to get good at dotting faster! Hahaha! Enjoy! :)

Dry Marbled Nails

Ugh, I have been SUCKING at posting words with my photos! AHHHHH! If you happen to come across a post without words, just remember I'm teaching and changing lives, bahahaha! ;)

Today I have some fun dry marble nails! This is my first time doing these and I have to say, I loved the simplicity of this type of nail art! They were so easy and awesome! I began with one coat of KBShimmer's How You Dune on my ring and pinkie nails and Hugs & Wishes on my index and middle fingers. HOLY CRAP. Talk about some awesome cream polishes. Whoa. I could've left them alone at one coat and they would've been opaque.

Once my nails were mostly dry, I polished half of my nail with the original color, and the other half with KBShimmer's Stonewashed. I did this one nail at a time, and I made these coats a little thicker. As soon as I had both halves of polish on my nail, I used my thin nail art brush to drag a zig zag pattern down the middle of my nail. I repeated this on each nail! I can't wait to do these again! I hear some fall colors calling my name! Enjoy! :)

Indie Spotlight: Heebee GEEbee Pumpkin

{Press Sample}

I really love being a member of indie groups on Facebook. Of course, my favorite group is ellagee's! DUH! :) One perk of being a member of these groups is having the opportunity to buy group exclusive polishes at a discounted price! Laura has made three group exclusives so far, and today I have the most recent one! If you aren't a member of ellagee's fan group, you should definitely join!

Heebee GEEbee Pumpkin is a creamy orange holographic polish! Laura made it available with or without black hex glitter. She also included a little baggie of black glitter in a variety of shapes and sizes! I opted to get the holo polish without any glitter. Then, I added some of the black hexes to my pinkie to show what it would look like with them in the polish. I also made an adorable punkin face with some of the black triangle glitter that came in the baggie! I did two coats of Heebee GEEbee with one coat of Glass on top! Enjoy! :)

Zoya Ultra Pixie Dust Fall 2014

{Press Sample}

Zoya recently came out with their Ultra Pixie Dust Collection for 2014! I've always loved their Pixies since they first released them, and these are no exception! All three of them are gorgeous! Since they're all from similar color families, I decided to just do a quick comparison for you guys to start, before I swatch all of them individually.

All three polishes were smooth and fantastic to apply. I did two thin coats of each polish without base coat or top coat, as recommended. I also allowed about 10 minutes of dry time between each coat. Though I love all three of them, Oswin is my absolute favorite. Not only do I love that the name is connected to Doctor Who, there's just something about a sexy red polish that I can't resist.

Arianna is on my middle finger nail. She's described as a blue-toned red wine color.

Noir is on my ring finger nail. She is described as a deep, vampy plum color.

Oswin is on my pinkie nail. She's a true red color. And I love her. Enjoy! :)

Distressed French Tips

I have some really fun nails for you guys today! I wore these to the first day of school this year! Unfortunately, most of these polishes are unreleased as of right now. BUT I'm sure that Laura of ellagee will be adding them to a collection soon!

My friend Angie had two of these polishes custom made, so I began with two coats of those. The white and blue set were meant to be a set dedicated to the color of a Tiffany's box. I then used OPI DS Radiance to create distressed french tips. My accent nail is a yet unnamed mega sparkly holo polish from ellagee as well! Enjoy! :)

Alter Ego made A-Maize-Ing, a matte yellow polish with holographic micro glitter. This polish was a little thick at first, but some thinner smoothed it out wonderfully! It does dry matte, so I added top coat for some shine! Three thin coats is what you see below:

Northern Star made Get Up and Leaf, a chocolate brown polish with orange, purple, and silver micro glitter. I couldn't catch the beauty of this polish as effectively as I wanted to. The shimmer is simply gorgeous in this polish! Three thin coats is what you see! Enjoy! :)

Indie Spotlight: ellagee's Fault in Our Stars Collection

{Press Sample}

ellagee has a gorgeous new collection coming out, inspired by The Fault in Our Stars. I've heard wonderful things about the book, but I've never read it. I don't usually read books that will make me bawl like a baby. ;P Laura's collection is really beautiful. This collection will be on preorder beginning tomorrow!

Dutch Tulip Man is a clear base glitter topper with matte red, pink, orange, yellow, and purple glitters. I did one coat followed by top coat. It was smooth and easy to apply, and there was enough glitter coverage in one coat for my taste!

Okay Will Be Our Always is a stunning medium blue cream jelly polish with silver shimmer. Ohmigosh, I love this polish. Two coats and it was purrrrrfect! And the shade? Simply stunning. This polish also comes with a little bag of black and white flowers, to match the colors of the book's cover. I placed a few of these on my accent nail for you guys!

Our Little Infinity is definitely my favorite of the collection! This polish is a deep blue/black polish with a soft scattered holo and silver micro glitter. It reminds me of the night sky in the country. So, so amazing. I did two coats and they were smooth and easy to apply.

Slowly and Then All At Once is a sage greenish bluish cream jelly with emerald shimmer. This polish is a really delicate color, and given my affinity for mint colored polish, I just adore it! Three thin coats and it was gorgeous!

Tasting the Stars is so cute! This clear base is packed with champagne micro glitter and mini silver holo stars. It went perfectly over Slowly and Then All At Once. I just did one coat, but you could definitely do two for a denser amount of glitter. Some stars required fishing.

Have you read The Fault in Our Stars? Do you like sad books? If you do, great for you! You're braver than I! :) Enjoy! :)

Glitter Chevron Arrows

Yeah, I'm awesome. Totally posted this without words. Welcome to my busy life! Hahaha!

Anyway, I wore these nails to Open House at my school in August! I wanted something to match the brown dress I wore, but I also wanted nail art that was fun, not boring. So, here's what I ended up with!

I began with two thin coats of ellagee's Espresso, a gorgeous, deep chocolate brown. Once that was dry I added some striping tape in a single chevron pattern and used ellagee's KACHOW! to polish over the tape. I love love love KACHOW! It's so sparkly, holographic, and amazing! Enjoy! :)

Indie Spotlight: Soflajo's Boo You

{Press Sample}

I have one of three polishes for you today from Soflajo's Howl-a-Ween 2014 Collection! Boo You is gorgeous teal blue polish with a beautiful gold shimmer and tiny colorful glitters. This polish looks understated in the bottle, but once it's on your nails...ohmigosh. It is beyond beautiful! I couldn't believe how much I loved it! I couldn't stop myself from looking at my nails. I did three thin coats to achieve full opacity. It was smooth and easy to apply! Also, it came with an adorable bat ring! Hehehe!

This polish, and the other two from the collection, are $10 and can be purchased from the link above. Enjoy! :)

Laser Gradient

I LOVE THESE. I feel like I could just leave it at that, show you the pictures, and be done. They're so gorgeous, they speak for themselves. Buuuuuuuut, I guess you'll want to know the polishes I used, and how I did them, so here goes!

I began with two coats of ellagee's BOOM! Talk about one AMAZING polish! I used top coat over BOOM! to make sure the surface was super smooth. Then, I randomly added striping tape all over my nails. I just put it wherever, without rhyme or reason. Once the tape was on, I used a make-up sponge to create a gradient using three polishes from China Glaze. X-Ta-Sea (purple), Seas the Day (red), and Stoked to Be Soaked (orange shimmer) were PERFECT when they were blended together for this gradient. They look just like a sunset! I ended up sponging the gradient on over each nail twice, to obtain the opacity you see here. Then I pulled the tape off, top coated them, and viola! Enjoy! :)
