New Year's Eve Nails

Happy {nearly} New Year! I usually like to do a few sets of NYE nails, but I feel like my vacation time has been a whirlwind this year! The good news is, we're getting in a lot of time with family and friends! The bad news is, my nail art is being neglected. Worth it though! :)

For these NYE nails, I began with one coat of Zoya Ryan, followed by two coats of a custom polish by ellagee. The custom is a sheer, shimmery blue. Once that was dry (thank you, Glass top coat!), I added smART stencils "Big Teeth" diagonally on each nail. If you haven't used these stencils yet, you are definitely missing out. They are, in a word, amazing. When I had the stencils secure, I used ellagee's Angelic to polish over them. Holy crap on a cracker, this silver polish is crazy awesome. It *may* have even replaced OPI Radiance as my go-to silver polish! Not only is it amazinly opaque, it also has flecks of pink in it! Subtle, but beautiful! After I polished Angelic on the stencils, I pulled them off immediately. One coat of the flakie top coat Sky by ellagee, and I was ready to party till it's 2015! Sky is a limited edition polish, so if you think she's as pretty as I do, you'll need to go snap her up immediately! Check out the flakie shift, especially in the last photograph! Enjoy! :)

Indie Spotlight: KBShimmer Men Are From Mars-ala

{Press Sample}

Marsala has been named the Pantone Color of the Year for 2015. Christy over at KBShimmer has created a gorgeous polish to go along with this color! She cleverly named it Men Are From Mars-ala

This polish is an earthly red-brown linear holographic polish, perfect for any time of the year! I think this polish would even be work appropriate! I did two coats of MAFM, followed by one coat of top coat! As is expected from KBShimmer polishes, this beauty was smooth, perfect, and a dream to apply! What do you think of this color of the year? Do you like it more or less than last year's color, radiant orchid? Enjoy! :)

Christmas Sweater Nails

Happy Christmas to those celebrating today! I had originally planned to do some Doctor Who nails to go with my Tardis pajamas today, but I decided on something a little more festive at the last minute!

I began with two coats of KBShimmer's Men Are From Mars-ala (a post dedicated to this beauty will be up soon). I then used Zoya Purity and a variety of striping tape, a dotting tool, and freehand art to create the look of a Christmas sweater. I prefer to work with tape and dotting since my freehand isn't fabulous, but it works.

Whether today is just another day for you, or if you're celebrating with family or friends, I hope your day is wonderfully fabulous! Enjoy! :)

Wreath Nails

I ended up loving these nails way more than I thought I would! I was doing these quickly and they ended up being so festive that they inspired me to scrap my Doctor Who nails and go with something more Christmas-y for Christmas day!

I began with two coats of Zoya Taylor, a perfectly nude polish that matched my skin tone best. And yes, I did have four nude polishes side-by-side on my hand to compare, hahaha! I then used my thin nail art brush to brush short polish strokes over Taylor in a semicircle shape around my nails. The greens I used are all by Zoya: Hunter, Chita, Veruschka, and Logan. When that was finished, I added some holly leaves by You Polish to the wreath, then dotted some berries on using Bellaluna Enchanted Woodlands. Enjoy! :)

Peppermint Winter Nails

I was so busy the last week of school before break, I barely had time to sleep, let alone polish my nails! However, it was Thursday and I NEEDED something festive on my nails for the last day of school. Therefore, I rushed through a water marble! They didn't turn out terribly, but they would've been much better if I had taken a little more time with them! ;P

I began with one coat of China Glaze White On White. Then I marbled it with Square Hue's Fifth Avenue. Once the water marbling was done, I used snowflake smART stencils and OPI's Radiance to add some whimsical snowflakes. Aside from being a little sloppy, they worked out well and survived my final day of work before a two week break! Enjoy! :)

Hanukkah Nails

Happy Hanukkah to those who are currently celebrating! Hanukkah is coming to an end in just two days, so I wanted to share some Hanukkah nails I did before then. I decided to do a many-shades-of-blue water marble!

Square Hue is one of my favorite polishes for water marbling. Their creams work like a dream, and I've consistently had awesome luck with them. So, I went through my Square Hue collection, chose a bunch of different blue creams, and got to work. The white in the marble is China Glaze White on White. The rest are all Square Hues in a variety of blue shades.

*If you don't know how to water marble, there are a ton of great You Tube videos on it that do a far better job of showing it to you! Much better than me trying to explain it.*

  When I was all done and cleaned up (which took forever and a day because I was out of tape! UGH!), I added some complimentary dots to my nails using the same polishes used in the marble! Finally, I added a coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust to add some fabulous sparkle to the whole look! I love how these turned out, though I was feeling frustrated halfway through for some reason. At any rate, I'm more than pleased with them! Don't tell the others, but the pinkie nail is my favorite...shhhh! Happy Hanukkah, and Enjoy! :)

Hot Pink Triangle Nails

I have some fun nail art for you guys today! I started out trying to do nails with four triangles, but decided to go for three at the last minute...and I love how they turned out!

I began with two coats of a hot pink Color Club polish I have. I was gifted this polish, and it came nameless, though I do believe it's part of the Poptastic Collection. Anyways...I LOVE THIS POLISH. It's such a neon pink, with no white polish undies required! Amazing. Once it was dry, I added striping tape in an X shape across my nails. Then I polished China Glaze Recycle in the top triangle created by the tape, and Zoya Willa in the two right triangles. For my accent nail, I polished ellagee's BOOM! in the top triangle, and an unreleased darker grey glitter bomb by ellagee in the side triangles. Once the tape was off, I used top coat and that was it! Enjoy! :)

Night Gradient with Fairy Dust

I've been craving a gradient covered with China Glaze's Fairy Dust lately, so here are the nails that satiated that craving! I wanted my nails to look like the night sky, but I worried that a gradient with dark blue and black wouldn't show up well. Therefore, I decided upon a dark blue and grey gradient!

I began with two coats of KBShimmer's My Life's Porpoise. I then ripped a little piece off of a makeup sponge and used it to dab on KBShimmer's Stonewashed. Once I was satisfied with the gradient, I added one coat of Fairy Dust before top coating the whole look. Enjoy! :)

Indian Ocean Chevrons

I was going through my Helmer and Models Own Indian Ocean caught my eye. This polish HAS to be one of my all-time favorites! It's so stunning. It's a color-shifting bottle of awesome! I chose Zoya Ryan to go with it, though Essie Bikini So Teeny is my usual go-to undies for Indian Ocean. Ryan is a really gorgeous deep blue cream that I fell in love with. I've been obsessed with using blue polish for nail art lately!

I began with two coats of Ryan. When she was dry, I polished Indian Ocean on my pinkie nail. Then, I stuck mini chevron decals by Nail Vinyls on my ring nail. I polished Indian Ocean over them, pulled them off, top coated all of my nails, and that's that! Enjoy! :)

Zoya Naturel Deux Part 2

{Press Sample}

Ready for the second half of the Naturel Deux Collection by Zoya? Just as I said with the first part of the collection, these creams were flawless and full coverage in two coats. I just love creamy, perfect polishes! These polishes are neutral and totally work appropriate, but would also make an awesome addition to some nail art. I think they'd also be fabulous with some glitter over the top! The possibilities are endless!

Zoya can be purchased at salons, online at zoya.com, and Ulta! Enjoy! :)

Snowflake Nails

{Polishes and Vinyls Used Provided for Review}

Ready for some snowy, wintery nails?? KBShimmer sent me some nail vinyls with her winter collection, and I've been dying to use the snowflake ones! I began with two coats of KBShimmer's Eclipse, a simple black cream that applies like a dream!

When Eclipse was dry, I added the line of snowflakes decal to my ring nail, and two larger snowflakes to my middle nail. I polished ellagee's group exclusive Ell-sa over the decals. Ell-sa is an icy blue holo polish. As soon as Ell-sa was polished over the decals, I pulled them off and was left with some easy to do, snowy nails! Since these decals are so detailed, they are a little trickier to pull off. If you pull them carefully, they won't give you any issues at all!

Christmas Light Nails

{Polishes and Vinyls Used Provided for Review}

I'm really enjoying working on Christmas nail art this year! Christy from KBShimmer was kind enough to send some of her Winter Holiday nail vinyls along for me to try when she sent her winter polishes. The best part about these vinyls is that you get a variety of decals on each sheet, so you aren't limited to just one design. I immediately fell in love with the string of lights vinyls. Those are the ones I will be showing you today! At $5 per sheet, they're totally affordable!

I began with a base of an exclusive silver by ellagee. When that was dry, I stuck the vinyls on and polished KBShimmer's Eclipse, a black cream, over them. I pulled the vinyls off immediately after, leaving me with a silver trail of lights. I then used ellagee's Glass jelly polishes and a dotting tool to dab color onto the bulbs. Top coat sealed in this festive look! Enjoy! :)

Festive Fortification

{Polishes Used Provided for Review}

GIVEAWAY!

I have another set of discontinued polishes today! However, these polishes are a lot newer than Cult Nails Seduction (Monday's post), so they should be a lot easier to find for sale in Facebook groups. Laura of ellagee and Raph of Digital Nails got together to create a duo of bright colors to help give the wearer a mental boost to fight off the stress of the holiday season!

Bastion of Bling and Garrison of Glitz are two to three coat jelly bases packed with color complimentary glitter. I did a teal base and a burgundy base for some simple nail art. Once those were dry, I used some single chevron Nail Vinyls to create upper and lower triangles. I polished Garrison of Glitz on the teal nails, and Bastion of Bling on the burgundy nails. One coat of top coat and I was all set! Enjoy! :)

Red and Gold Nail Art

{Polishes Used Provided for Review}

Don't forget, I'm doing a giveaway right now!

December is upon us, and so begin the holiday nail art posts! First up today is some red and gold nail art, perfect for any holiday occasion!

I've been craving a really gorgeous red mani for quite some time, so I began with two coats of ellagee's Glam. Glam is a red jelly base with tiny gold glass flecks. Glam is such a sexy polish, I just love her! When Glam was dry, I used a starburst Nail Vinyl on my accent nail. I polished Zoya Ziv (my favorite gold polish, hands down) over the vinyl, pulled it off, added some top coat, and that's it! I loved wearing these nails, and everyone that saw them was really impressed by them! Enjoy! :)

Indie Spotlight: Cult Nails Seduction

{Nothing to Disclose}

First and foremost, GIVEAWAY!

I have some really awesome Indie Spotlights for you guys this week! However, all of them are now discontinued! :( The only reason I will still post them is because you can locate the polishes for sale in polish groups on Facebook. Also, they're too gorgeous to keep to myself!

Today, I have Cult Nails Seduction for you! I made one Cult Nails purchase about two years ago, and I'm ashamed to say that I JUST tried this beauty for the first time for this post! Flakies have been a huge topic of discussion in the indie polish world over the past two weeks, which got me thinking about flakie polishes that I already own. I remembered this beauty, and dug her out of my helmer!

Seduction is a purple jelly base with red and blue multichrome flakies. I tried a little swipe of it on my thumb and decided it was going to be too sheer for what I wanted. Three thin swipes led to a squishy jelly look that still allowed for visible nail line. Since I wanted an opaque look, I began with two coats of an unreleased purple cream polish by ellagee. Then, I did one coat of Seduction over the cream. All I can say is WOW. I get the flakie crazy, that's for sure! This polish is gorgeous. It looks like a totally different polish from all angles since the flakies are constantly shifting their color in the light.

If you have the chance to get your hands on this beauty, I highly recommend it! If not, keep your eyes on indie makers over the next few weeks, because flakies are coming out soon! ellagee even has some still available from her weekend sale! Enjoy! :)
