The Polished Bookworms: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Ready for my next set of nail art based on a book? The Polished Bookworms read The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy for the month of April, and today we're posting our nails inspired by it! This Douglas Adams book had me a little worried at first...other people weren't liking it very much, so I was concerned. Luckily, my concerns were unfounded because this book was awesome! It's a science fiction book with a lot of sarcasm, quirkiness, and fun! If you like science fiction at all, you MUST read this book! Also, I think it's much better than the movie! The movie was good too, don't get me wrong, but the book was so much better!

Onto the nails! I'm going to explain them individually.

1. Index: This nail represents the surface of Magrathea. It's a boring grey planet with some visible stars in the sky. I used some new polishes coming soon from ellagee for this nail! The planet was sponged on, and the pinprick stars were dotted on with a tiny dotting tool.

2. Middle: Three coats of Yas by LynBDesigns makes up the base for this nail! A famous line from THGTTG is said by dolphins. The line is, "So long, and thanks for all the fish!" I used LynBDesigns Feels for the dots, some dolphin glitter, and letter stickers from Born Pretty Store to spell out SO LONG!

3. Ring: GALAXY NAILS! I began with a black base coat, then sponged on white, pink, purple, and blue cream polishes. When that was done, I added some silver holo glitter, and more stickers from Born Pretty Store! This time I used the number 42, and a star. Of course, according to THGTTG, 42 is the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything!

4. Pinkie: This grey base ended up with silver streaks and a black dot in the middle. This represents the ride Arthur and Slartibartfast take on their way to the planet building area. It's a shimmering silver tunnel! Enjoy! :)

The Vocab Collection by LynBDesigns

{Epic Press Sample}

Yes, it really is EPIC!! LynBDesigns is launching a stunning neon collection of awesomeness on May 1st, and you HAVE to see this amazing collection! The Vocab Collection consists of five cream neons, three holo neons, and two glitter toppers. If you're on a no-buy, stop reading NOW. If not, proceed with your credit card ready! :)

There are so many wonderful things about this collection. The formula is flawless. Smooth, buttery, easy to work with, awesomeness. Additionally, these neons DON'T need undies! Woohoo! I did three thin coats of each polish, except for in the case of the glitter toppers, which were one coat each. One coat of top coat finished off these drool-worthy beauties! These polishes are more neon than they appear, though I did try to capture them as accurately as I could. This collection releases on Friday, May 1 at 7:00pm EST on LynBDesign's Etsy. Each polish will be $10.

Bae is a neon blurple cream that is simply stunning!

So Basic is a beautiful glitter topper that every polish fiend needs in their collection. This linear holo topper with mini holo glitters will look good over virtually any polish. I used it over Bae and YOLO, so you could see the versatility of this beauty.

So, which ones are your favorite? If you're like me, the answer is ALL OF THEM! :P Enjoy! :)

China Glaze Electric Nights Summer 2015

{Press Sample}

Ready for some swatches from China Glaze's Electric Nights Collection? This collection is chock full of neon creams and neon glitter! This collection has a lot to love, and it's easily accessible! Sally's carries China Glaze, and I've also seen it at Meijer recently! Before I jump into swatches, keep in mind that these are much more neon than they appear in pictures. Neons are notoriously hard to photograph and tend to make cameras freak out! I did the best I could to capture a color as true as possible. Your results may differ.

All of my swatches show three coats with NO white undies! On my index nail is one coat of Let the Beat Drop, on my middle nail is one coat of Point Me to the Party, and my ring nail is one coat of Can I Get an Untz Untz. Enjoy! :)

Sand & Surf by ellagee and Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer

{Press Sample}

ellagee is getting ready to release their second indie duo! This duo, Sand & Surf, includes polish from ellagee and Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer. It will release at 3pm CST on April 26th! That's 4pm EST, and 1pm PST. US shipping is included in the $20, and international shipping is available for an additional cost.

This duo is based on a photograph taken by B-EGL os sandcastles and the ocean. Here's both polishes hanging out together:

Ocean Nail Polish

ellagee's contribution is Rhythm of the Waves, a turquoise jelly with shades of blue, white, and iridescent glitter. I did three coats to obtain the perfect, squishy look. This polish was easy to work with and looks fabulous!

Shimmering Sandcastles, B-EGL's contribution, is an ivory cream with green microflakes and blue, aqua, silver, and gold shimmer. I did three thin coats for the opacity you see. This is my first time using polish by B-EGL, and I am impressed! This polish is smooth, easy to apply, the perfect consistency, and gorgeous! I have two more polishes from her that I'm excited to try soon!

This duo also came with nail tattoos from B-EGL, so I added my favorite one to my middle nail. These work just like temporary tattoos. Cut them out, put them upside-down on your dry nail, apply a wet something to the top (I used tissue), and hold it there until you can remove the tattoo backing without taking the tattoo with it. It was easy to use, and I love how it adds to the look! So beachy! Enjoy! :)

Creamsicle Water Marble

Ready for another water marble?! I've been obsessed with water marbling for the last few months! I've been practicing and gotten so much better, so all I want to do is marble ALL THE NAILS. Today I used polish by ellagee for an awesome, orange creamsicle-ish mani!

I began with two coats of Wrapped in Ribbon, a shimmery white cream polish. I then marbled Delilah, a peach cream, and Wrapped in Ribbon for the look you see below. What are your favorite polishes to marble with? I'm always looking for new ones to try! Enjoy! :)

Slytherin Nails

{Nothing to Disclose}

March is Reading Month was Superhero themed at my school, and one of the days was Villain Day. I chose to dress up as Draco Malfoy, so I wanted some Slytherin inspired nails to go along with my costume. I didn't want to be OVERLY Slytherin because, let's face it, it's Slytherin and I am obviously a Gryffindor. ;P Hahaha! I began with a base of two coats of Zoya Ivanka. Ivanka is one of the first Zoya's I ever purchased, and I still adore her! I then used Zoya Tilda, Purity, and Willa to dot on a snake skin-esque design on my ring and pinkie nails. Enjoy! :)

Jelly Sandwiched Stickers

{Press Sample Stickers}

I have some more stickers from Born Pretty Store to show you today! This set of stickers is white, and they come on a huge sheet with a ton of designs just like the silver ones I showed you the other day! This set is $6.20 and definitely worth the cost.

I began with two coats of Zoya Paloma, a gorgeous raspberry jelly polish. I then added some swirl stickers to the tips of all of my nails except for my accent nail. One that nail, I added a smile sticker. These stickers easily pull off the sheet and stick to your nail. Once I had all of the stickers on, I did one coat of ellagee's Rainbow Syrup to add some holo awesomeness. Next, I sandwiched it all in with another coat of Paloma, which is why the white decals are tinted pink. Finally, I completed the look with one coat of top coat! Enjoy! :)

ATC and Silver 3D Stickers

{Press Sample Decals}

I recently purchased ellagee's Bunny Box, and even though it was a fast sellout, I was lucky enough to snag one with my speedy digits! :) I'll be showcasing some goodies from the box over the next few weeks! Today my nail art features Above the Curve's Rockin Robin. Holy moly, I am in LOVE with this polish! It's my first ATC polish, and I am really impressed with it. It's a robin's egg blue with holo shimmer and dark blue flecks. So, so pretty!

After applying two coats of Rockin Robin, I used some silver stickers from the Born Pretty Store to add a little flair! :) These stickers are $4.96 and the sheet of them you get is HUGE! There are some many designs on it, I had a hard time choosing which ones to use. I settled on the dots, but I already have a ton of plans for the other ones. These are definitely more than worth the price, and I would readily purchase them. They peel easily from the sheet. I used tweezers and transferred them right to my nail. One coat of top coat completed the entire look! Remember, if you use the code HTCG10 at Born Pretty Store, you get 10% off of your order! Also, shipping is always free no matter where you live. Enjoy! :)
